Zhan Zhan

I combine the language of contemporary jewelry and traditional craftsmanship to connect ancient stories with jewelry. Each piece has its own story, personality, and emotions. As a child, Zhan was obsessed with Japanese Yokai, Chinese beasts in fairytales, folklore, and mysterious horror stories. If monsters still lived among us, what would their habits and appearance be like? The Hatchery collection is a throwback to my own monster character creations, back to the beginning of each creature. In designing the jewelry, I innovate within the form of enamel jewelry, combining digital design, and 3D printing to make enamel jewelry three dimensional and more free in design expression while connecting contemporary jewelry with the digital trend.
