Mark Del Guidice

Since attending the esteemed Program in Artisanry at Boston University, I have been crafting unique furniture pieces and one-of-a-kind objects in wood. Focusing on form, surface and color, I strive to expose the sculptural relationship of furniture to our environments. I am inspired by the complex patterns of our physical life, both natural and man made. My process of designing includes sketching, model making and full scale drawings which allows for spontaneous adjustments throughout the building process so each piece is a journey in artistic discovery and results in a fresh perspective. All of my designs include incised carvings in carefully selected areas. Included in these patterns are my signature hieroglyphs, intuitive in nature, they are abstractions and simplifications of our sophisticated visual world, and they tend to evoke personal interpretations from each viewer. I welcome the opportunity to show my work and engage customers in a rewarding experience.
