About Dallas Stout
My work centers on creating heirloom-quality chairs that balance smart design, comfort, and the natural beauty of fine hardwoods. I make rocking chairs, dining, and arm chairs as well as bar stools, each built for daily use and long-term durability. Every piece begins with a solid frame of air-dried hardwood, often walnut, cherry, or maple, chosen for its strength and character. The chairs feature a distinctive responsive design in which the seat and back are composed of many individual wooden blocks threaded through the frame on a single steel cable encased in a protective synthetic jacket. This construction allows the chair to subtly adjust to each sitter’s body while maintaining structural integrity. Formerly known as Alan Daigre Designs, this work reflects techniques and designs I have been closely involved with for over fifteen years. As Alan retires, I am carrying the work forward, continuing a tradition of finely crafted functional furniture meant to be enjoyed for generations.
