About Andrew Jowdy Collins
I view experimentation and risk as a prerequisite to making anything meaningful. I create original palettes of pigmented porcelain -- a risky material that I cut into individual pieces, then arrange into a cogent vessel or panel composition. The process is buoyantly demanding, requiring a great deal of planning and improvisation to stay on the clay's good side. My work combines iconic form with a revisionist approach to color theory to create vivid porcelain vessels and flatworks.
