Jody Graff

I create artwork driven by my joy, curiosity, and awe of the natural world; a synthesis of art, design, craft, culture, and environmental science. My work allows the viewer to see and appreciate details and structures of botanicals (primarily leaves) in an intimate and contextualized way. The work includes 2D quilts and designs and 3D sculptural compositions using botanical materials. The dynamic visual quality of leaf fiber is showcased and explored through varying textile architectural and design techniques. Works explore depth and dimension through weaving, pleating, embroidery, or optical illusion. All techniques are in service to celebrating the natural material and narrative. My artwork invites viewers to slow down, notice details, and be inspired and rejuvenated by the ever changing beauty of nature.
