Patricia Kochaver

For years I’ve been experimenting with saggar firing, a form of sawdust firing, and find it to be a regenerative source of inspiration. Each firing leads me to new mark making discoveries and initiates more experimentation, continuing the exploration process. The effects I strive for come from the imagery I am drawn to and observe everyday, which then finds its way onto the surfaces of my work. I approach each piece with a respect for traditional methods and through pushing those boundaries I attempt to bring the work to a contemporary place.
