Kirstin Demer

I am inspired by every aspect of paper. I create sculptural handmade paper which explores

ideas of fragility, movement and memory. My handmade paper is both recycled and natural

fibers which are processed in my Hollander Beater to create paper specific for each of my

sculptures. The fibers are soaked, beaten, colored, dipped and individually pulled using a

mould and deckle to create each sheet. Reed is hand woven and acts as a skeletal support for

my work.
