About Annie Simcoe
All of my pieces are made of my handmade paper and drawn with free motion quilting techniques. Each color is a separate piece of paper and all of the black lines are stitching. I make all of my papers using materials I grow or gather near my home in Western Maryland. I primarily use corn husks and abaca to make my papers. I use fabric dyes to obtain the bright colors. The final component of my work is free motion sewing. The resulting pieces are a combination of collage and quilting. I have been a full time paper artist since 2009.
