About Amy Smith

It's all about the light. I weave lace because I am fascinated by light catching it off water or through trees or in a lingering twilight. Lace is a woven structure that incorporates negative space allowing me to design with both the threads and the spaces between them. I take great delight in creating the color gradations of my warps. They are all improvised (and thus cannot be exactly duplicated). I am weaving the colors of shifting tides, thriving gardens, quiet woods, fierce storms, gentle twilights.  Fine wearables for any gender  any time -- and in any light.
