About Liz Seru and John Truex
Our workshop moves fluidly between craft, design, and art - resolving furniture, lighting, hearth, and objects for the home at the at the bench rather than on the page. Works are crafted from enduring materials, and with a surface treatment that suggests a lifelong relationship with their owners, evidence of use in the slow oxidization of bronze, the patina that builds on a soapstone tabletop from touch. Each piece is made to stand on its own, and also to blend into the rich texture of a living home.
We make a collection of cast iron cookware under the name Borough Furnace, exclusively utilizing recycled metal as source material. We’re most well-known for our cast iron skillets, a contemporary update on the classic American form, and for making the only enameled cast iron cookware currently produced in the US.
