About Joy Stember

My work explores the intersection of tradition and modern design through contemporary Judaica and objects for the home. Rooted in a deeply personal connection to my Jewish identity, I create pieces that elevate ritual while integrating seamlessly into everyday life. Working in metals such as pewter, brass, and silver, I hand-fabricate each form by scoring and folding sheet metal into dimensional structures. This process allows for crisp architectural lines paired with richly embossed textures that invite touch. Influenced by urban landscapes and mid-century design, my work balances minimalism with warmth and material presence. I strive to create contemporary heirlooms, objects that honor heritage, foster connection, and bring intention and beauty to both ritual and daily living.
