Mya Nelson

As a woodworker my goal is to capture the dynamic energy and movement of the natural world into a piece that adds usefulness and joy to everyday living. I make both furniture and home goods using both hand and power-tools. My designs generally feature clean lines and curves. Achieving a sense of flow is a major focus of my work.  I strive to achieve both precise joinery and fluidity in every piece. For the finished work I may add a pop of color or a different material such as metal glass and cork. I have a deep respect for the life of the tree and often adapt the design to bring out the unique features and grain of the wood into the finished piece.
