Play and experimentation are at the core of my studio activity: I delight in navigating different and sometimes contradicting media, and in tinkering to feel my way to a narrow path between form and function. Lamp forms are an apt vehicle for this creative inquiry. My work is handmade, yet its ability to function depends on ready-made components such as lamp fittings and light bulbs. I’m captivated by the problem-solving that’s involved when incorporating a fixed, standardized component into the design of a one-of-a-kind piece.
