About Elizabeth Holliday
I started designing clothing because I could never find exactly what I wanted in stores. My grandmother was a maker, so I knew I could do it. My mom patiently taught me how to use her machine, and I was making clothing through college. While being limited by store bought patterns, I decided to learning how to make those too. Teaching myself to pattern at first, a friend suggested I go to design school - and that was the moment my life shifted. My outerwear design starts with sketch or drape on a dress form. From that I create a paper pattern, then cut that out and sew in muslin or fabric to see how it fits. That happens many times - adjusting and fitting - and it may take months to finish a design. I will sew the final design in luxury fabrics like cashmere, virgin wool, alpaca, merino, or my new love - Japanese nylon (waterproof). Helping women feel beautiful and confident through their lives is so rewarding.
