About Peter Petrochko

My sculptural wood vessels are constructed by using laminating, band sawing, hand carving and disk sanding techniques.

I do not use a wood lathe for any of my work. My laminated vessels involve a green technique, wherein I create / telescope 3D forms, from a flat board of a given shape, with the use of a bandsaw. In addition to laminated vessels, many of my vessels are hand carved, with the use of chain saws, gouges, grinding, / sanding techniques.

Also, in addition to vessels, I create abstract architectural and natural forms, out of a single log. These forms are intriguing as they explore relationships in space, mass, light, and texture.
