About Kathy Karadza
Working with my hands is meditative for me, and I feel happiest when connecting with others through my creations. I design and make handbags mostly from upcycled leather and materials discarded by prominent fashion brands, in small batches in my studio in New York City. My pieces are often structured and minimalist, vibrant in color, and functional wearable art. Items are cut, sewn, and hand finished onsite. I started making handbags from leftover costume fabrics in my down time while working in costumes for Broadway shows in New York City. What started as a hobby, turned into a passion, and now a small business.
