About Scott Alexander
Working with green wood (wood that has been recently cut and has not had an opportunity to season / dry) allows me to make a physical connection to my pieces unlike any other medium I've worked with. There is something very special about cutting open a log and seeing the colors and amazing grain, coupled with the earthy smell. I keep my designs classically clean to allow the natural beauty of the wood to shine. I believe that my job as a wood artist is to be an editor of Mother Nature’s best work, to highlight the natural beauty of the material. My materials are all sourced locally, urban trees; storm damaged trees as well as logs from local logging companies that practice sustainable forestry.
