Diana Friend

Seattle, WA

I am teased by complex bark and intense grain. Cracks, voids and color are a further draw. These elements are the design cues I follow to create each bowl or platter. As the work spins, the joy of exploration and discovery guide its final shape and style. Time and patience is required while incorporating such delightful imperfections. Sometimes carefully placed hardwood ties, employed for safety, lead a discreet elegance.
