Charles Faucher

Groton, MA

The building block for these thin wall segmented works is an 18 piece ring which, manipulated in different ways, results in these colorful designs. The rings are inserted one inside or outside another to produce horizontal designs on the x and y axes. The rings can be stacked vertically to produce designs on the z axis. The point of this complication is twofold: first, to produce unusual segmented forms (sphere, torus, egg and the pleated and stepped pieces) and secondly to allow for asymmetry in the surface designs. The egg, torus, sphere and stepped form have never-ending changes in pattern, making the surface dynamic and mysterious.
