Form and function work together in hand-made kinetic sculptures that tell time with wood-- all wood: gears, shafts, escapements, pulleys and pendulums. There are no batteries, motors or electronic components. Called Timeshapes, these clocks are uniquely designed and created by the artist. Many parts are hand-turned, while the irregular shapes and long, curved shafts are carved out of thick slabs of wood with band saws, sanders and drills. Timeshapes picture the passage of time in a captivating and dramatic yet soothing way-- friendly and whimsical.
