About Myung Urso
Much of my artwork originates from the power of a strong brush stroke, which leads me to be creatively spontaneous. Spontaneity is also a fundamental Korean aesthetic that does not pursue perfection. Through a lifetime of practicing calligraphy I have been able to gain a way to freely express my inspirations and simplify what I see with lines and forms. I am intrigued to see how my personal imagination can turn out a real object. Pursuing an idea without preliminary drawing leads to a spontaneous way for tracing unexpected results. My process is more open toward momentary happenings rather than controlled by plan. I’d rather explore and experience new and fresh ideas. The actual art piece conveys a sense of personal privacy or story.
