About Melinda Risk

My jewelry is narrative sculpture and I use several different techniques to tell each story. They include carving, casting, enameling, fabrication, granulation and painting. Each jewel is a tiny sculpture that can be worn and recently I have been creating small sculptures that have a removable piece of jewelry that you can wear. This collection of work has examples of the sculptural jewelry and the sculptures with a piece of jewelry included in the design. This allows me to make more delicate and intricate work that can be shown as art and still be interactive. The challenge for me is to create an archival piece that tells the story of the vision I have in my mind using metal, porcelain, bone wood and other materials.
