Jonathan Rutledge

I use a technique in my work called granulation. This means that all of the patterns in my jewelry are made up of individually placed tiny gold granules that are fused in place. My work combines this technique along with chasing and reppousse to create one-of-a-kind pieces that blend ancient design with contemporary style. I incorporate high karat gold alloys with precious stones and pearls to do so. When observing much of my work from a distance it appears rather simple in form or shape. With this said, I strive to give the viewer the feeling that there is more to see. A feeling that they have to get closer in order to really understand what they are drawn to.
