I create furniture with the intent of emulating the natural world. Botanical forms of figured hardwoods are hand shaped and contrasted with highly polished natural surfaces, often using natural found stone as the top. I wish to bring nature indoors into the home environment, my vocabulary of design has developed into a classically inspired mix of Asian, celestial, and botanical themes. I integrate sliding dovetail joinery, stainless steel handmade fasteners and often times I want aggressive, hard carved surfaces, contrasted with highly polished hand selected figured hardwoods. Then, its dashes of color via paint or resin inlay to tie the piece together visually.
