About Yoshiko Komatsu

This collection employs Japanese antique Kimono silk fabrics and is a fusion of ancient and modern, past and present. The designs enlist the natural drape and lines of the fabric to define the female form. Each piece is one-of-a-kind. Many pieces can be worn in multiple ways, from casual to formal. The collection involves the processes of sewing, weaving and knitting. Re-purposing antique silk fabrics is ecologically sound. The manufacturing of new material sacrifices many silkworms and energy. The lifespan of the finest silk fabrics can be up to a few hundred years.
