Chie Hitchner

My art seeks to explore the creative possibilities of a textile artist working only with very simple tools:  Natural fiber (usually silk), a four-harness floor loom, pencil, paper, electric light, heat.  Nothing more. I dye the fiber in small batches in my studio, using locally available natural materials whenever possible. I extensively use warp and weft ikat, and supplemental weft techniques, in the creation of my shawls.
