About Alison Kelly
Textile artist Alison Kelly provides a bridge between art and conscious clothing. Ancient natural dye techniques are combined with botanical contact printing—an organic process of transferring the imprints of leaves and flowers directly into cloth through an alchemical steaming process. Alison Kelly is based in Brooklyn, New York and Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She cultivates her own natural dye garden in the summertime on Cape Cod, growing plants and flowers to make dye from and to use in the eco-printing process such as weld (green), indigo (blue-green), marigold (yellow), hibiscus (pink), raspberry (green), and many more, which star in her plant-dyed creations.
