Ute Monjau-Porath

Beaverton, OR

My work explores aspects of recollection of period wearables and theatrical costumes in conjunction to the challenges of contemporary fit and functionality. Making wearable art for me means to connect and combine woven, knit, felted, grown materials into beauty and protection. I continue to make what I imagine and offer the resultant form to other people to delight in and to be dazzled by: jackets, coats, dresses, pants, hats, corsets.
