About Sugandha Gupta
Born without color in a country of vibrant colors and visually impaired in a world dominated by visuals, I draw from my personal experiences to build a vocabulary of textures, aromas, and sensations through the sense-abled world of textiles. The act of making and learning through my senses transformed my work as an artist and an educator. I investigate and transform different kinds of materials such as, wool, paper, rope, silk, cotton, newspaper, banana fibers to create elaborate shapes and textures. Using fabric construction, manipulation, and embellishment techniques; I produce immersive textiles and wearables that engage two or more senses at a time.
