About Ashley Benton
From the beginning of her practice Ashley has been interested in making new discoveries from old experiences. Bringing past impressions into the studio the work creates a new dialogue of the human experience. Every single experience is left in our nervous system which affects our emotional, physical and spiritual body. Ashley uses recurring imagery, rabbits, birds, wings, hoods or caps, flora, even missing body parts like clues to map. Stories, poems, songs and relationships are there until she starts to daydream and let any new version be told. There are silver linings, dead ends, sharp curves, love, loss, vulnerability, blue sky, dark clouds, deep water and pretty little things. Less than reality - more than a dream.
