About Janel Jacobson
The whitest porcelain clay, softened by celadon glazes or to serve as a canvas for active, responsive carbon-trapping glazes that record the influences of the flame while being fired, involves me in a conscious and ongoing pursuit of forms that may be gently reshaped and textured. As a restorative respite from the intense involvement of making porcelain studio pottery, I periodically turn to carving imagery on porcelain to be enhanced by celadon glazes.
