THE JANE AND LEONARD KORMAN FAMILY PRIZE FOR EXCELLENCE IN CLAY

Forming function, a dance, often a tug of war, between thought and object making. Add to this dialogue the sheer joy of working with clay as materially responsive as porcelain and surfaces only possible through glaze fusion. My work uses basic wheel thrown shapes as starting points, altering and rejoining forms articulated by black slip inlay. The clays and glazes I use are often of my own formulation. My glazes are food safe, microwave and dishwashing stable.

I am proud to be showing my work in the first virtual Philadelphia Museum Craft exhibition and featuring a selection of my more complex work for a limited time, November 2 thru 15, in my Special Collection online store at fortunapottery.com.

I would like to share with you my story, artistic journey, and studio practice in the “Meet the Artist” YouTube series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhrOcYrTmyg&t=48s
