David Fraser

I use ply-split braiding to create baskets and related forms that are distinctive for their sculptural qualities and mathematical construction. A rope maker is used to make four-ply cords, which are then interworked with a wooden needle. In the current series novel cord sequences enable crossing of planes and generation of asymmetric, organic forms.
