Susan Mahlstedt

Kansas City, MO

This body of work explores forms and movement of nature and pattern using a variety of textures and finishes. I often use a depletion gild technique that makes the silver a white color that contrasts with the oxidized detailing. Sand dollars, leaf forms, and bamboo are my current inspirations combined or alone to create these pieces. I strive for work that is both graceful and strong. Metals are 18k gold, sterling silver and various stones or pearls as accents.
