Liz Oppenheim


The jewelry in this collection is created using lost-wax casting, and a Japanese hand-sculpting wax called mitsuro. Through these pieces, I evoke familiar organic forms, and explore natural pattern formation. Working in this technique is a meditative and organic process: each piece represents an interplay between the properties of the material and my design aesthetic. I warm the wax in my hands until pliable, then gently stretch, sculpt, and form it, creating the distinctive texture of these pieces. The developed forms are cast in silver or gold, and carefully hand-finished
