Ruta Sipalyte

Vilnius, Lithuania

I translate the meditative character of nature and its elements into interplays of negative spaces, color, and elemental geometric forms. With this vocabulary, I create enlightened objects that seek to preserve the lasting beauty of momentary impressions and passing landscapes. I create these works using a mixture of hand-building, slab construction, and the assemblage of slip casted elements. The works are made of earthenware clay or porcelain, then glazed, and fired in an electric kiln.
