IGNATIUS CREEGAN & ROD GIVENS

PETERSBURG, VA

We start with a hank of braided wheat, and begin by hand sewing the braid into a button. The button is then taken to a straw sewing machine, and the body of the hat is stitched in varying shapes to fit our hand carved wooden hat blocks. The parts are blocked, assembled and finished with wire and belting. The hat is then trimmed with milliner made novelties. Felt hats are blocked on wooden molds of our own design, and on antique molds. The formed material is finished with ribbon and wire, and trimmed with milliner made novelties.
