This method of needle felting builds up wisps of dyed sheep's wool layered on the surface, anchored by the needle and blended by the viewer’s eye. The completed felt textiles are recessed into hand finished local woods or reclaimed vintage timbers which often echo the abandoned structures of old farmhouses. As you approach this work it reveals itself as more than a two-dimensional landscape image; the organic textures of fiber against wood grain draw the hand as well as the eye to examine the detail and dimension of the layered material compositions.
