I am fascinated by the ancient art of raku and enjoy exploring the random, risky nature of the firing process. I focus on small scale, intimate pieces fired in either traditional or "naked" raku. My traditional pieces are hand carved and accented with clear crackle glaze. I leave the carved elements exposed to absorb smoke during the firing. By combining wheel thrown, hand carved, and etched elements with both traditional and naked raku, I create modern day artifacts that are one of a kind.
